You appear to be using Firefox 54.0 from Ubuntu so you could look for updates in the package manager.

Based on the firefox-60.0.1.tar.bz2 file name it was very likely from mozilla.org or www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

The tar.bz2 is basically a archive that you extract and then run the firefox .sh to use Firefox. There is no installer or compiling needed.

If you are the only user then a easy place to put it is in a folder in HOME as this way the Firefox folder will have read/write permissions for Firefox updates.

Then you can create a desktop or panel launcher to the firefox .sh in Firefox folder.

Hi, it depends on the flavour. Where did you download from ? Can get it here also : https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

If not working out for you should follow instructions from where you got your Linux version from.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
