I do not have a firebox button on top of firefox window. was trying to reset as do not have any toolbars. I have right clicked in toolbar area- no options???

Have been trying to add a menu tool bar and/or a bookmark tool bar. No options appear when I right click in the toolbar area-- only whether or not to hide toolbars. One suggestion was to reset firefox by bringing down a window by right clicking the firefox button in upper left corner. I do not have such a button. I am frustrated and going around in circles. Your video on toolbars does not run. Pretends it does, but does nothing. I have been a Firefox user for years without any problems. Firefox browser got hijacked and unable to solve the problem because access to you is really a challenge. Avast suggested browser cleanup & although it temporarily went away it came back. So I uninstalled Firefox and switched my allegiance to Google Crome. Preferred the Firefox browser, however so reinstalled-- and here I am. Right now-- not a satisfied customer! I run firefox on a Windows 7 OS. I would try reinstalling but have already imported by bookmarks from Crome-- could this be part of the problem? Shouldn't be, I would think. Thanks for any help.

You were most likely in full screen mode if you had the option to hide the toolbars in the right-click context menu.
You should also have seen the choice to leave full screen mode in that right-click context menu.
As posted above, pressing the F11 key will also toggle full screen mode on/off.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

If this does not cut it, then a clean re-install should do it. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

Hi minimoose, if you don't see any menus or toolbars, try the following:

  • To exit Full Screen mode, if applicable, tap the F11 function key. This switches back and forth between full screen and normal modes.
  • If the window is too large for the screen, try maximizing. Press Alt+Spacebar to open the Window control menu, then X to maximize.
  • To display the classic menu bar, try pressing and releasing the Alt key, then try the View menu to access the toolbar list.

When you uninstalled Firefox, did you check the box to also remove all your personal settings? This would have removed all your bookmarks, history, saved passwords, etc., so hopefully you did not do that.


You might also try Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either of these approaches:

(1) If you can access the Help menu: Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

(2) If you cannot access the Help menu: Exit Firefox. Then hold the Shift key when starting Firefox again.

This should display a small dialog with two buttons. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Yes., yes yes!!! That is all it took. A lousy hit on F11. Now why could I not find that handy bit of information somewhere! Everything is as it should be. Thank you.
