Is there an alternate method to recover a password or create a new password?
This page "https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery/verifycaptcha" does not work.
I type in the captcha and hit continue and I get, "Please type the characters you see in the picture above." I type in the new captcha and hit continue and I get "Please type the characters you see in the picture above." again. I have done this over and over again and it does not advance to the next step. So, I ask again,
Is there an alternate method to recover a password or create a new password? Help!
Thanks
Tom

I have found the answer to my own question.
If the password recovery page does not work, Close your Firefox Browser and restart it with all the add ons turned off.
You can do this by clicking on "Help" at the top of your open browser window. Then click on, "Restart with add ons disabled."
Then go to the password recovery page, https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery/verifycaptcha and everything should work just fine.
This problem was such a pain in my butt, I had to forward my solution to you.

I've marked your above reply as the solution.
Do you have any content blocking extensions that could cause this?
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, uBlock Origin, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
I do have Adblock Plus and NoScript. I did not want to go through each add on individually, but you can if you want to. Either way should work. I had Adblock Plus turned off for that particular page. To save time and more headaches, do a restart with all the add ons turned off. I hope this helps many others. I have to say persistance paid off in this case. May you all have an excellent day!
