Why does Firefox keep the memory of download location from private browsing mode?
I am using firefox 31.0 on ubuntu 12.04. When I try to save a page or download, firefox opens a location where I previously put the downloaded contents (not always the last download location though; may be it depends upon the type of files/the site from whre I am downloading.). It is a smart feature and wonderful. But the problem is, Sometimes it opens the download location from the private browsing mode. I think it might be a bug.

Are you sure that you have never saved a file to that location in normal mode?
You can rename (or delete) the content-prefs.sqlite file to content-prefs.sqlite.old in the Firefox profile folder to remove saved setting data for all websites.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
