Fennec will not open on the HTC Aria (running Android 2.1 with Sense)
I saw in another post someone mentioned Fennec does not open on the HTC Hero, but the problem was linked to an ARM processor. I believe the HTC Aria is running a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, so I am not sure if the problem is related or not.
This might just be a case of my lack of mobile processor knowledge, but I thought the developers should be aware. I installed the apk successfully to my phone, but when I touch the Fennec icon it tries to open, then simply closes and sends me back to my home screen.

After some further research I realized someone posted the following in the HTC Hero thread: "Please note that current Fennec builds are too large for some older or less powerful phones, and the user interface is not yet adapted to run on 320x480-pixel screens."
While the HTC Aria is not an "older" phone it does only have a resolution of 320x480, so I am guessing I fall into that category. So my updated question is would the nightly builds do me any good, or is Fennec simply not compatible with all of those devices?
The HTC Aria has an ARMv6 processor. Fennec for Android alpha 1 is available only for ARMv7 processors.
We do have nightly builds available for ARMv6 processors, but as you noted they are experimental and do not yet run well on lower-powered phones or lower-resolution displays. They might work on the HTC Aria, but maybe not very well. If you want to try them out, you can find them at:
Just as an FYI I tried a nightly build, and I get the same results. I added the Fennec icon to a home screen, then selected it. It will bring up a black screen with a gray bar at the top that reads "Fennec," but then it closes out without doing anything else.
Will support for phones with 320x480 resolution and/or ARMv6 processors be added at some point? The HTC Aria was released less than 2 months ago, so I would not consider that outdated yet or anything. I am wondering if I just have to be patient or if I should give up on Fennec and continue to use Dolphin HD until I upgrade handsets again.
