The window asking me to drag Firefox to the Applications folder loads every time I open Firefox.
I have reinstalled Firefox a few times. Every time I open Firefox, the dialog box indicating that I should drag FF to the Applications folder appears. There is also a blue Firefox "hard drive" image on the desktop. It majorly slows down the time it takes FF to load.

Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the DMG file and drag to Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.

I figured out how to solve this problem. When I installed firefox on my macbook pro Lion OS, I clicked on the dmg folder in the download to open it and install firefox. The window that asks you to drag firefox to the apps folder link appeared. I dragged the firefox to the apps folder link to install firefox in this window, and I dragged the firefox icon from this folder to the docks panel at the bottom on my screen to put the firefox icon there.
Because the firefox icon that was in my docks panel was originally from the window that asked me to drag the firefox to the apps folder link to install firefox, this window kept popping up every time I clicked on the firefox icon in the docks panel. In other words, the firefox icon that was acquired this way was the culprit because it is programmed to open both firefox and this installation window.
To remedy the problem, quit firefox and this window. Then, remove the firefox icon from the docks panel. Re-introduce the firefox folder into the docks panel by dragging it from the apps folder, and now click on the new firefox icon and the installation window will not open any longer.
