I have previously asked this without success, why am I unable to upgrade my version of Firefox?
When I enter Firefox from my desktop I keep getting a message that my version is out of date and that I must upgrade. I have attempted to do this on several occasions without success, sometimes disabling my anti-virus software, sometimes not. Each time I get a pop-up menu telling me the download was successful. I have also previously tried to get this resolved via Firefox Help, again with no luck. R. Haseltine.

Version 3.6.23 is an up to date and supported version of firefox. Apparently mozilla were going to advertise to such users that they could update to Firefox 7, but had problems and changed there mind. ( see http://christian.legnitto.com/blog/2011/10/06/postponing-the-firefox-3-6-x-7-0-advertised-update/ )
Do NOT use any option saying delete personal settings however that is worded.
You should be able to download and install the latest version of Firefox, currently Firefox 7.0.1
- see updating firefox
- you probably need to visit http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/?from=getfirefox

Many thanks to John99 for your help on my upgrading issue. I shall continue with my current version for the present as it appears to be working OK. Regards, rlincoln.
