There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that
intercept secure connection certificates and send their own.

Hello FredMcD,
I'm a long time Firefox user, and I use on my government managed computer. I cannot make system changes. Firefox is the only browser this problem (SSL_ERROR_HANDSHAKE_UNEXPECTED_ALERT) is happening on and my government support personnel is telling me the fix is to use a different browser. I would really not like that. Is there any way that Mozilla/Firefox can fix this problem? If I'm forced to switch browsers at work it is likely to result in me switch browsers at home as well.
Best, Franz
I called for more help.
FredMcD.
Yes, I want to reiterate that I am a long time user (10+ years) never had this issue until the latest update. I have removed the antivirus, did a fresh install and removed all add-ons. Issue is still recurring.
I want to Add that the issues are random. (1) of every 3-5x times I load gmail I will get the error. Similarly with other sites.
Does this happen only on Google? Are any other websites affected?
Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox {web link}
Remove a single website from your history {web link}
Open the History Manager <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any site settings And Passwords.
All websites are affected.
You can check the connection settings.
- Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
See "Firefox connection settings":

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.
