Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

You should pay close attention when installing Windows applications, and uncheck the checkboxes that offer to add things to browsers.
Once you get rid of the plugins, invest in some good anti-virus and anti-malware program. Additionally, use custom install on everything you download always and unselect stuff you do not need. Sadly, Utility chest and other similar toolbars are installed by computer owner usually who forgot to uncheck something during install process.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

And uninstall any related programs from the control panel or check for malware as said above.
I had the same problem with Mindspark. on the Options, Add-ons go to plug-in where it is listed click on that to find the ".dll" and make a note what it is. Open Windows Explorer click on "computer" and search for the ".dll" and delete. It worked perfectly for me on Windows 8 and I no longer have it showing anywhere on my computer and most importantly on Firefox. I am running Firefox Beta 26.0
