Firefox is used on Windows 11 Enterprise. There is a firefox.cfg in the installation directory (and an autoconfig.js in the ./defaults/pref sub-directory). Everything works fine when a pref(...); entry is written to the firefox.cfg. However, we want the firefox.cfg to call the pref(...); entries from a global_config.js which is saved on the machines public directory.

Therefore, the firefox.cfg says:

// free line lockPref("autoadmin.global_config_url","file:///C:/Users/Public/.../global_config.js");

But firefox does not load whatever prefs are written to the global_config.js. There probably is problems with the formatting of the file path (file:///C:/Users/Public/.../global_config.js). What would the correct formatting look like? Unfortunately, Mozilla´s support guide only includes an example code for a firefox.cfg which calls a global_config.js via http:, but not via file:.

Two months ago I tried to send an email on Thunderbird (not using email address logged in here) and I received the popup message below. I did not access the site as given, but just uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird and all worked OK until now, The same thing just happened. My IP said they had not heard of Abusix and that it might be a problem with Thunderbird, hence the reason for de/re installing. Is this threat real or is it a hoax or scam or what. Searching for Abusix all I get are results pointing me to their website.

I know this question has been asked many times over the years, and I'm going to be that guy who does it again.

It doesn't make sense to me that Form and Search history are combined together. They're only tangentially related, so I've been really struggling to understand why, in order to disable clearing of forms, I also have to disable my entire search history. They should be exclusive from each other.

We've moved significantly past where we were security- and extension-wise. Whatever the reason was for grouping them together may have made sense 7-10 years ago (I've seen posts that far back asking for this to be separated), but things have changed. Many people use their own solutions (1Password, Bitwarden, LastPass, etc), either because they offer better features, have a more complete package, or get personal accounts offered to them through work. One of the features I enjoy in Bitwarden is the ability to also fill out forms as well as passwords.

I'd much prefer to disable Firefox suggestions. Even though I have the password suggestions turned off, it still offers them and interferes with the Bitwarden (or 1Pass, or whatever) interface. This also happens on forms. I don't quite understand why Firefox seems to antagonize these extensions in favor of the built-in version. Users should have the option.

Of course, a lot of this can be avoided, but I'd also have to give up my search history. That simply doesn't make sense. I suspect this will again get buried like the previous posts, but alas, maybe this is the time. I'd really like Mozilla to give me a bit more control over my privacy and auto-fill options. Concede that there are extensions out there that provide better options, and accommodate them. Don't tie search history and forms together....

What is the easiest way to import the current state of Safari into Firefox? Would like to create the same set of windows, with each window having the same set of tabs, if possible. I did a bit of googling but no success with what I found.

I really want to avoid manually creating all the same things one by one by one...

I'm not talking about importing all the history and passwords and other stuff - the actual windows and tabs.

Thanks...

-bob

ps - would like it to work with current release of Firefox, aka 134.02 on Sequoia and Ventura versions of macOS, as well as Firefox 115.19.0esr on an older macOS Mojave system.

While working in Firefox with AOL.com email, the color wheel frequently spins in several ways: when I scroll a window to read more, when I close a window, when I click on links, even when I just sweep the cursor to a different position. I've tried AOL.com on a different browser with no problem, and I've cleared cashe and history with no improvement. The hardware/software data follows: MacBook Pro 2021, Apple M1 Max, 32 GB, Running Sequoia 16.2 Firefox 134.0.2 (aarch64)
