If I copy a link and paste it in an email, the receiver of the email is not able to open the link by clicking on. This is not the case when I'm using the Explorer browser. When I'm using the Firefox, the receiver of the email must copy the link and paste it in the address bar in order to open the link. Any suggestions?

Each webmail site has its own way to handle links in emails. If you are using a popular one such as Yahoo, GMail, Hotmail, etc., someone can tell you how to create a live link in your mail site. Otherwise, you can look for an icon to insert a hyperlink in your message. Often it has a "chain" motif.

As I noted in my original inquiry, if I use the Explorer as my browser, I don't encounter this problem. My email service in Hotmail. Normally, I would prefer to use the Firefox browser, but I need to find a solution to this problem.

It is a limitation of the JavaScript code used by websites to automatically create a hyperlink that works for IE, but doesn't support Firefox.
For Firefox you need to use a different method to create a live, clickable, hyperlink.

Just above the textarea that you use to enter the message text there is usually a button bar with buttons to add text formatting like Bold and Italic.
That toolbar may also have a button to turn a text link into a clickable hyperlink (look for a chain like button).
You can select the text and click that button to turn the link into a clickable hyperlink.
If you can't find the button then hover them all to check the tooltip of each.

Finally someone who knows what they are talking about...Thanks so very much. I do hope that Firefox will try to remedy this problem which will allow you to just copy and paste into your email and not have to use the little chain thingy each and every time! Again, thanks, thanks, thanks!

Is there any Firefox extension or Greasemonkey script that can give FF the same functionality as IE on this?

Using that button to create each clickable link manually seems a bad workaround; sometimes I paste long lists of links in emails... I imagine I'm not the only one who ever does multiple links.

As much as I prefer Firefox to IE, just can't live with this clumsy "solution" to dead hyperlinks in both send and receive mode of emails. This is a problem with Firefox, not with Java. Sorry, but I have reverted to IE.
