Since I have updated to 52 ESR firefox functions less.

I am a private user with one single computer but I have been urged constantly to update to, first 52 1.0 ESR and later 52 1.2 ESR. Firefox since then crashes frequently, orten starts slowly and on Gameknot Adblock plus for Firefox causes problems, terrible slow loading of pages, ALTHOUGH IT IS OFF on that site. Starting and working on that site in Safe Mode solves the problem. And it is not hardware acceleration that causes the problems. So I think it must be Adblock.

I have two questions. Do I need these ESR updates? And how can there be a difference between Safe Mode and Adblock being switched off in normal mode?

Chosen solution

hi, in case you have adblock plus version 2.9, there are currently a number of reports that this recent update causes poor performance, please try to replace it with https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/ and see if the issue is still there. and yes, you should always keep updated to the latest firefox version for maximum security.
