Had pc crash however had done a restore save to external drive just before, after having two new hard drives fitted I did a win tranfer 7 on to new drives and restored latest restore files. When I installed thunderbird it didn't find my folders of emails. I'm having difficulty finding them on the external drive and replacing them so that Thunderbird can find and load them. Please can you help?

Chosen solution

re : I'm having difficulty finding them on the external drive and replacing them Assuming you allowed everything to be set up in the default location, the 'Thunderbird' folder containing everything would have been in this location:

  • C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\

You would need to copy that backup 'Thunderbird' folder and then access the current location - which would be the same assuming the Drive C was the same. Delete the current 'Thunderbird' folder from the 'Roaming' folder and copy/paste the backup 'Thunderbird' folder into the 'Roaming' folder - thus replacing it.

Exit Thunderbird before doing the above.
