Recently often I cannot play a news video on a website, for example, on this BBC page: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-32658765, we get the message "This content doesn't seem to be working. Please try again later. I go immediately to same page in Safari and it plays just fine.

After activating Flash on that page, I get an ad for Cartier watches, and then BBC video. Do you get the ad or does that not play either? (It's cruel when the ads work but not the content...)

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
