I keep getting this note above the Mozilla screen when Yahoo is being used: "Firefox is installing components needed to play the audio or video on this page. Please try again later." What's the fix, or is there one?

No idea if you are getting mixed HTML5 and Flash Video .

You could try : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html then : Flash Player Version: 27.0.0.187 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only> As something maybe corrupted.

You could try this : Please : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles then https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I started writing this before @Pkshadow post, and thought it might still be helpful, so here it is.

I have just looked at some Yahoo! pages and played some videos, that work fine on my Windows 10 laptop running Firefox 57.0.1 and I do not have Adobe Flash installed.

It looks like you have "Shockwave Flash 27.0 r0" installed on your machine. According to the Adobe site, the latest is Version 27.0.0.187. Following @Pkshadow's advice should ensure that you have a good, non-corrupted install of it, but see my Note below.

1) Could you please provide a URL for one of the Yahoo! pages that you have a problem with and receive the message?

2) If you disable Flash, do you still have the same problem?

Note: The Adobe Flash Player is generally not needed anymore with a modern browser and HTML5 being used by most sites now. The plugin can actually compromise security (which is why Apple never adopted its use on any of their OSs). It is being discontinued by Adobe in 2020 anyway, so unless you have a real need to use it, I advise de-installing it completely!

Try to toggle DRM off/on to see if that makes Firefox (re)load DRM components.
