E-mails that I have opened and read on my Samsung Galaxy S5 are still showing as unread in Thunderbird on my computer.

I'm guessing that the mail application on my phone and Thunderbird on my computer are not syncing. I also run into the problem of e-mails that I compose and send on my phone not showing up in my sent mail folder on Thunderbird. Thanks for any help!
