backed up files do not work for Thunderbird or Firefox

1. Computer using all the time was having HD problems & I backed up Firefox & Thunderbird files 2. Had old (2 yrs) computer with Firefox & Thunderbird, updated both programs 3. Removed data files from old computer & placed the new files in Profiles Folder of working computer 4. Both Firefox & Thunderbird did not work. 5. Erased Thunderbird & Firefox & reloaded and both say there is no data and will not even start. They start to load but never fully load after it tells me there is no data files and I placed the new files in the Profiles Folder. 6. If I cannot even get the programs to start, and start a brand new Firefox & Thunderbird I'm lost on what to do?

Try this: create a new profile from Help/More Troubleshooting, about:profiles, name it, click Choose folder..., Browse... and select your old profile folder, and see if your old data and settings are shown.
