I use iGoogle as my home page and when I select the Home page icon on the address bar Firefox also loads old link to bbc news page. How do I disable this?

I'm using firefox on an iMac. Firefox is my default browser. When Fire fox loads it correctly goes to iGoogle my defined home page but it also loads a second tab and a web page that I linked to from my home page about two weeks ago(http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14862235). I deleted this page from my search history, shut down Firefox and then reloaded, but second tab still loaded to old web page. I have restarted the computer and powered up Firefox with the same result.

Make sure in Preferences/General/Firefox Startup "Use my home page" is selected and NOT "Show my Windows and Tabs from last time"

Thankyou mccashin:

I checked the home page assignment in preferences and found that the errant site had been appended to the normal (google) home page address. Incidentally, I had basically solve the problem within a session by erasing all history related to bbc. Without your fix I would been back to the same error next time I started Firefox from scratch. Thanks again.
