That would be a bad install or bad update or upgrade that corrupted firefox but since we have no history or update history. This could be caused by addon or security software problem as well. So unless others can reproduce the problem this will be hard to track down.

Hi jackcl, I looked up your previous post for more context. Sorry to see you didn't get any responses.

Maybe the "Recommended by Pocket" section got turned off on your Firefox Home/New Tab page? To manage that section, use the "Home" panel of the Options page. See: Customize your New Tab page to hide or display content. That would be the closest thing I can think of to a list of articles not from your history. But usually there are only a handful, not two rows.

If it wasn't that, maybe one of your add-ons stopped working??

Thanks for your interest .. Pocket provides a means of saving the websites previously visited - I already know the websites I've been to by just clicking on "history". So Pocket is NO help. Before Mozilla crashed on my mac computer - I was getting daily updates of scientific articles that were excellent and after trying everything for at least a week and not getting any kind of support from Mozilla - gave it up - and them - as a lost cause. The only thing Mozilla has any interest in is themselves!!

The Recommended by Pocket section is not a list of articles YOU saved to Pocket, it shows what is popular with Pocket users overall which might be of interest to you.

Anyway, since you already gave up, never mind. Good luck with Chrome.

According to what I read - Pocket on a Mac requires MacOS El Capitan (10.11) however, my Mac laptop computer is using MacOS Sierra which is rather strange because before Firefox crashed I was getting all the articles pocket recommended. Obviously there is an inconstancy that doesn't make a bit of sense - at least for me anyhow.

If you still have Firefox, you could experiment with the settings and see what you get.

Usually when currently maintained software requires a version, that is the minimum version and it should work on later versions as well. Old software, well, it might not work on later versions.

I have enabled Pocket by double clicking on extensions.pocket.enabled - so giving it one more chance. There is now a Pocket symbol on the address bar so I will try clicking it on a few of the websites.

For the Recommended by Pocket section of the new tab page, you need to enable it on the Preferences page, Home panel.

• Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
• Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
• Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
• Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the left column, click Home.

Then on the right side, you can manage the sections that appear on the Firefox Home/New Tab page.

The Pocket Icon went away - I have checked the box save to Pocket and looked at the 5 pages applications - none of them have any mention of providing website updates. Back to square one.
