Add-on remove it permanently doesn't work after reboot.
Windows 10 (64-bit), Firefox 56.0.1. The add-on "Remove it permanently" works when I install it, but after rebooting it doesn't work, even though it still appears in the list of add-ons. If I reinstall it, it works again until I reboot the computer.

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 28.0 r0 Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.113 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>
Do you have anything that runs at boot that cleans anything ? Also you are running a unsupported browser. Version 61 is current.
Remove it permanently has a Extension page with Support links and Contact info, Please contact the Developer of the Extension for Support.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Your response doesn't address the issue. 1. The add-on <remove it permanently> is not available for Firefox versions after 55 or 56. There are many protests on the internet about this and other missing add-ons in later versions. That is why I still use version 55. (By the way, on a different computer running 32-bit Windows 8.1 and the same Firefox 55.0b9, the add-on does work on reboot). 2. No, I have no start-up apps that might affect the operation of a Firefox 55 add-on. The Firefox history settings make no difference. 3. As a separate issue, you implied there might be a version of <remove it permanently> for version 61 (and by the way, the latest appears to be 62 which I have on yet another Windows 8.1 computer), but nowhere can I find it. The add-on manager in version 62 doesn't find it, and the Mozilla add-ons blog doesn't mention it. 4. You say "Remove it permanently has a Extension page with Support links and Contact info, Please contact the Developer of the Extension for Support." What do you mean?
Version 56 is not supported any longer.
Firefox does not do support for any extensions/add-ons and this one has been abandoned 7 years ago (Mar 29, 2011) was the last update. It will stay broken as the Developer has lost interest. Try contacting them. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/remove-it-permanently/
I would guess that from the time you read the message and got around to looking Firefox had updated to version 62.
Try going through this search page which I used keywords remove it : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=remove-it-
Note the add-ons manager is limited compared to using the proper add-on/Extension page search.

Someone else suggested setting all <browser.tabs.remote.autostart> entries in about:config to false, and that indeed solves the problem with Firefox 56.0.1 but not of course for later versions of Firefox. For those, <https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=remove-it-> does not appear to contain anything relevant. There are one or two add-ons (such as uBlock) that temporarily remove items from the Google.com home screen, but those items reappear upon reloading or rebooting.
<https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/remove-it-permanently/> apparently concerns <remove it permanently> only, and explicit says that it is not compatible with Firefox Quantum!
So nothing useful for Firefox 56+ so far.
What security software do you have?
If it fails after a reboot then other software might be interfering, so make sure to exclude the Firefox profile folder in "AppData\Roaming". Such extensions probably also require local storage working properly to store its data.
My security is both Windows Defender and more powerful SpyHunter, neither of which finds any problems.
The problem of <remove it permanently> not being removing things permanently, i.e. their reappearing after rebooting, did not arise until recently, presumably although I'm not sure, after Firefox version 54 or so. I used it for many years without trouble.
I don't understand your remark about the profile. That file needs to be in "AppData\Roaming" for Firefox to work. If you delete it, the next time you load, or perhaps reinstall, Firefox, it is regenerated.
I hope someone at Mozilla is reading this. I gather there are other useful add-ons that do not work in recent versions of Firefox. If Mozilla cares about users of its software, it should attend to these incompatibilities.
