Hi Sam, YouTube login is of course connected to your Google Account. YouTube/Google keep track of the fact that you already proved who you are by setting a cookie. As long as that cookie is not cleared, then you should stay logged in from one session to the next. Since you are getting logged out, the most likely explanation is that the Google cookies got cleared.

Firefox can be set to clear cookies and site data when it closes, and this feature allows making site exceptions. Are you using this feature?

Firefox also can be set to run only in private mode. Private windows can't save cookies to disk, so after you close them, those cookies are flushed automatically.

Some add-ons clear cookies, and some external cleaning software clears cookies, too.

So there are a number of things to check.

Hi, further down the page, look for the History section. You can change to either:

  • Firefox will: Remember history
  • Firefox will: Use custom settings for history -- but un-check the box for "Always use private browsing mode"

Note that in (permanent) PB mode all cookies are session cookies that are purged automatically when you close all PB mode windows or close Firefox. You can't use PB mode if you want a website to remember you as you can't keep its session cookie across a session
