My issue is very similar to this one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1270007 - expect the fix didn't work for me. There is an old, unneeded account (named "Beratung") in my profile, that I'd like to delete. Following the above mentioned thread, it would appear that this is the local folders account that was renamed to its current name. Thunderbird keeps asking for the password for this account at each startup, and renaming it to local folders hasn't changed that. I'd like to just delete this auccount and for TB not to check that e-mail address anymore - but since it's local folders, afaik that can't be deleted, or at least it shouldn't. I've also seen advice to just delete the entire profile folder, but I'm managing multiple IMAP accounts in that one profile, and I want to keep all the others. Any advice how I can make the local folders behave as they were never in use?

'Local Folders' is a special account and no password is associated with it. It seems odd that you changed 'Local Folders' name to 'Beratung' (now renamed as Local Folders) for no reason, so perhaps you had a POP account whose purpose was dealing with consultations.

Did you ever create a POP account and then set it up as a deferred account more commonly called 'Global Inbox' where all incoming and outgoing mail used the 'Local Folders' account. In these situations the POP account does not have it's own set folders and is not shown in the Folder Pane as an account in it's own right. But it would show in the 'Account Settings' as a pop account. Perhaps it is still connected with a POP account and it is the 'password' for that pop account that it is expecting. Check the 'Account Settings' to see if any of the POP accounts are set up as 'Global Inbox'. In the 'Server Settings', click on 'Advanced' - Usually pop uses, 'Inbox for this account', but a deferred account would use 'Inbox for different account'. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/unify-your-pop-email-accounts-global-inbox
