Spywareblaster 5.2 no problem detecting Firefox in my older Pavillion with Windows 7 Home Premium but Spywareblaster 5.2 will not detect Firefox in my HP Envy.

If you would like to use a free alternative to Spywareblaster, you can use any of these free scanning tools:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Personally, I recommend AdwCleaner. That is what I use and it does a great job of removing any adware or other malicious files from Firefox.

Please consider reporting this issue to the Spywareblaster technical support team.
THERE IS AN ONGOING DISCUSSION OF THIS PROBLEM ON THEIR SITE BUT THEIR WORKAROUND IS WAY OVER MY HEAD. THAT'S OK. JUST SEEMS WEIRD TO ME THAT SPYWAREBLASTER WORKS GREAT ON MY PAVILLION AND NOT ENVY. NO BIG DEAL. THANKS ANYHOW. THE WORKAROUND HAD TO DO WITH %APPDATA% .INI FILES AND SUCH ALL OVER MY HEAD.

Will you provide a link to that discussion? Might help us figure out where the problem lies.
thanks Wesley...i just installed AdwCleaner and will use with my Malewarebytes , CCleaner and Panda and that ought to do it.
I had that problem as well. Here's the link to what jcjs33 mentioned, which contains the workaround until a fix is found:

From my testing, it appears Spywareblaster is not able to read profiles.ini because that file has been altered somehow. In fact, it is reported by Examdiff to be a binary file. FWIW, I hadn't noticed any FF-related problems because of it.
It could be a problem with the ownership or permissions of the profiles.ini file that confuses Spywareblaster or possibly the items at the start of the profiles.ini file (StartWithLastProfile=1 and missing Default=1 on the default profile).
You can start the Profile Manager and make sure that the default profile is selected.

I confirmed that whatever's happening to profiles.ini, it's being caused by installing IOBits Uninstaller v5.1.0.7.
Hello, found this thread after I posted https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1098691 SpywareBlaster 5.2 sees Firefox in SpywareBlaster dashboard. Just that SpywareBlaster Cookies - Exceptions went missing. FF42x64
Looks like a fix has been found and an update imminent:
