Cannot retrieve yahoo emails on thunderbird

Hi,

Thunderbird was working just fine yesterday and retrieved my yahoo emails but today it has not been working. I didn't change any settings over night but now I have tried everything and I cannot get emails.

It says its sending my details but I then get a message asking for the password. I entered the correct password but I either get a timed out message ( Login to or it asks me to enter the password again.

Some things I have checked :

I dont have Two-step verification enabled

I have tried another computer and setting up a new account to go to Yahoo but get a Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?

I used the settings Thunderbird set up by default and also used https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN3773.html but no luck

My mobile phone works fine with yahoo and so to does the browser but I don't know why thunderbird isnt?

There are dozens of problem reports with Yahoo, both here and at the Yahoo forum. No one has come up with who is to blame or how to fix it so far.

Verizon is the new owner of Yahoo and AOL. This is what their website says. https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/fiosinternet/email/troubleshooting/questionsone/85634.htm

It has said this all morning so their hour is up.

I want to note that my emails from a different account (not Yahoo!) download just fine into Thunderbird, even when I wipe out that particular password and re-enter. But, my Yahoo! mail is the default account on Thunderbird, and it's not working because of this password issue. Also interesting is that I can send an email through TB/Yahoo! account, even though Thunderbird gives no indication the email was sent and keeps relentlessly asking for the Yahoo! password. (I test sent to myself and the email did arrive.)

still not working. i posted on verizon but that site isnt working fully today for me. I can get other apps to work (like the windows mail app) with yahoo but not thunderbird on two machines so its a thunderbird problem. also my software is up to date

Mine is not fixed. When I click my Inbox, I get the attached message.

I am having Yahoo email problems also. The strange thing is,, I have two Yahoo email accounts. One works and the other does not. How crazy is that??!!! Please, someone do something about this and quickly please!!!!

I just started having a similar issue. I changed my Yahoo password and now I get no Yahoo email. Instead of an enter your password dialog I get an error message that says "The current operation on Inbox did not succeed. The mail server for account xxxx@yahoo.com responded: [CLIENTBUG] SELECT Command is not valid in this state." I'd bet it is probably failing because it didn't ask me for my new password. This works fine with the Yahoo app on my tablet and using Yahoo mail in Firefox.
