Had Firefox on pc for a number of years however recently it failed to load. I uninstalled it and attempted to re- download it however the download gets stuck at the initial stage, reads now installing, a white bar appears but nothing further happens ! I can leave it downloading for half an hour and nothing. If I close the download Firefox appears to be installed however when I open the browser there's just a page with blank white boxes where the headers should be. Not sure why this is happening as Edge works fine. Any help would be appreciated.

What site did you download Firefox from? That way others can see or verify what the issue is? And what Browser are you using to download Firefox?

Instead of the small online stub installer, you should try the full offline setup instead.

Thanks for the replies, downloaded from the weblink but it opens with a blank page (all white) with the task bar etc where it should be and a circle indicating its thinking about opening. If I wait a short while and click on the screen I get a popup message ... Firefox is not responding.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet, select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
