Is there a way to make a filter, or is there an add-on, that will automatically delete attachments from emails once the email has been sent? I want this to happen as I send the email. Note: I don't want the email to be deleted.

Filtaquila will allow me to detach the attachment to a specified folder, but I want the attachment to be deleted. Both AttachmentExtractor and AttachmentExtractor Continued are no longer available.

Am running Thunderbird version 115.18.0, on Mac OS 10.12.6.

Thanks

I have tried reindexing all individual folders one at a time, and also deleting the sqlite folder and letting it rebuild itself. No luck. The only way I can read my mail is to go to help/troubleshoot mode and read them in troubleshoot mode. Now I have downloaded the update to 128.6.1esr (64-bit) (on Windows 11) and all I get in the main message display area is the "Welcome to Thunderbird" screen. I have several thousand messages in the system, and they're all there, but only visible in troubleshoot mode.

Hi, I have a persistent but intermittent problem sending emails. When an email decides it is not going to go a pop up appears and it says:

Sending the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server SMTP (failed). The server maybe unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify your outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

Can you please advise how to resolve this issue?

Thank you. Tracey

This began about 2 weeks ago. I have email for my business with my domain name (Laurel@handknitting.com), and both my personal (laurelmurphy@fastmail.com) and business email are managed by Rackspace. Only the outgoing mail on my business email is affected.

Here is the error msg I got today when trying to send from business to private email: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <laurel@handknitting.com>: Sender address rejected: Access denied. Please check the message recipient "laurelmurphy@fastmail.com" and try again.

Rackspace support was able to send successfully from their webmail and from Microsoft outlook using my business email. All of the SMTP settings are exactly the same for both my business and personal accounts. It is clearly not the server, it is TB. Their suggestion was to uninstall TB and reinstall, or change the client.

What do you suggest? TIA, Laurel

I use Verizon.net whish has long been aliased to AOL.com and “pop” it down to Tbird. This has worked flawlessly for many years. On 01/24/2025 I was routinely clearing my inbox and got this message.

“The message could not be moved or copied to folder ‘Trash on rtegethoff@verizon.net because writing folder failed. To gain disk space, from the File menu, first choose Empty Trash, and then Compact Folders and then try again.”

I assumed this meant my Inbox folder was too big so I attempted to Delete one and then a number of old emails but got this same message. I thought maybe my Junk or Trash folders were too big so I managed to Delete all messages and Compacted both folders. With both Junk and Trash folders cleared to zero, I still got the above message when I tried to Delete a message from my Inbox. When I request new messages from AOL/Verizon email server I see the first 1 or 2 messages but then the above message appears and no new messages appear in my Tbird Inbox. When I log on directly to this account that is aliased on AOL.com I see many new messages. Next I tried to send a message using Tbird to my gmail.com account and the message is received at gmail.com but there is no new entry my Tbird Sent folder. I am running WINDOWS 10 McAfee Antivirus Version 1.25.208 16.0.R125 and I turned off the McAfee software and still failed. I, also, ran the PC in SAFE MODE and still failed. I am running Tbird version 128.6.0esr. There is an update listed as 128.6.1esr and I attempted to update but again got the same above message. Any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciate

Recently, I copied some emails into my gmail account. By mistake, they ended up in the Drafts folder. Doh! I now can't get them out of there. If I try and move one, by drag-and-drop or using the right clock menu, it disappears for a couple of seconds and then reappears in the drafts folder. How do I actually move them from there to another folder? Thanks.

I've been using Thunderbird on this Win 10 Pro machine for about a year, and nothing has changed lately but a few days ago began receiving "Unable to write the email..." error message. Yahoo Mail is my mail provider. I've not had any luck after trying the following:

Running Thunderbird Version 115.18.0 on Win 10 Pro Checked security (have rights for everything) Checked diskspace (over 50GB free) Checked for disk errors (none) Deleted several emails via server (so not a problem with a particular msg) Verified all AccountSettings are correct Added exception in AV software for Thunderbird Disabled all AV software Ran TB as Administrator Enabled outdated security protocols TLS 1.0 (and then reset to 3) Added Thunderbird.exe to Firewall ‘exception list’

Sure would appreciate some other suggestions to get this resolved as I have an extensive library of messages I'd like to keep in Thunderbird.

Thanks very much.

I sent 5 batches of 150 BCC emails to my business customers in the last weeks, might be unrelated to my issue - however I cannot send emails now from Thunderbird, when I try this error message appears: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: avasout-peh-001 smtp ESMTP server not available (blacklisted by local policy)."

No idea what this means but I'd like to be able to send emails again. Any ideas or tips?

All the emails disappeared from my msg pane (veiw pane) It was fine the first time I used it today, deleted one new message and logged off. Next use ALL msg gone. Folder pane shows they are there. Other computers can see them.

Tried repair folder. Tried DEL MSF. Tried disabling add ons

Can see them in troubleshooting mode but is nasty.

Betterbird site reports this as a known issue in V128.6.0esr (64-bit)

I've use Mozilla since Netscape but "strike a light" it's getting harder to be loyal with the amount of bugs
