Hi, I tried to update my Firefox Accounts secondary email, but I got the error message This email was already confirmed by another user." That does not seem likely, as no one else has access to my secondary email account. Obviously, there's something I don't grasp here. How do I fix this?

Maybe you created another Firefox account that makes use of that email address ?

Hi, James,

I don't have a record of a separate account.

I tried logging in using the other email address and resetting the password, but I then got this error message:

Primary account email required for reset.

See attached image.

Regards,

Bruce

You may need a fresh login to the accounts.firefox.com website, so if necessary try to logout and login again.

Hi, Cor-El,

No joy there. I have signed out and signed in, even changed my password.

Same problems here. I couldn't log in with my personal gmail account. I could not remember the password, so tried the reset link and got the same errors.

On a hunch, I opened Firefox on my work laptop, which is using a Firefox account linked with my work email. And there it was - when I set up the work account I used my personal gmail account as its secondary! This left the account in the "locked-out limbo" where it couldn't be used to log in, and it was also unable to be reset.
