YouTube videos are no longer downloading. The popup which accompanies a download shows a message ... "No Media to process in current tab. Click play on video to help detect files."
Is this a new phase for YouTube downloads using videodownload helper? Firefox browser running on a mac. Are others still able to download YouTube videos?

Firefox browser by default can't download YouTube videos because of their protection. You need to contact the addon apps developer if there is issues using their app.
This same problem was encountered by a number of users. The recommendation was installing a beta version. This solved the problem. Hopefully whatever was changed will be included in the official version.

If the issue is with Youtube then the authors have a Beta version of the extension to try https://github.com/aclap-dev/video-downloadhelper/discussions/1074#discussioncomment-11914403
Youtube tends to make changes (on purpose) so extensions like these may not work fully or at all and the extension then needs to be updated by the authors.
Was having the same issue. Followed James' advice and installed the Beta version (https://www.downloadhelper.net/w/Beta-versions). This is now currently downloading a video, so I'm assuming it's fixed the issue 👍
