Import Outlook 2011(Mac version) files and calendar and address book in to Thunderbird for Mac
Hi there. Does anybody know how to best do this? I like to import in to TB, address books and calendars and all existing mail in the different folders I have in Outlook 2011.
I am using 10.12, Sierra, at present. And 2011 is up to date as far as the software goes. Thunderbird is the latest Mac version. My email accounts are all POP accounts.

First thing I'd try is the import wizard in TB 60, installed on the same computer as Outlook: Tools/Import..., don't select 'Import Everything', try Mail or Contacts. If Mail works but Contacts doesn't, you can export the contacts as vCards and import to TB with the help of an add-on.
Export the calendar to an .ics file, which can be imported to the Lightning Calendar in TB.
hi sfhowes
all I see is to import from Mail (not being used but there as part of the OS).
So no luck there.

Importing from Outlook has a checkered past with TB. You may have more success with an older version, such as TB 17, which can be updated to TB 60 after the import. Outlook must be installed on the same computer with TB, and it must be set as the default email client.

A commercial application worth considering:

thanks for the links, will have a look at those. would you know if in either way the Reminders would be translated and able to import in TB?
PS just see the article talks about .pst files. the mac Outlook uses .olm files.

Not sure about transferring reminders. It appears it's not possible with Google calendars, but may work with other calendar providers. Reminders are set in events and tasks in the TB Lightning calendar, so importing an ics calendar file may include reminders.
good info, anybody else any wisdom before I start the project?
this page suggests dragging folders from outlook to finder creates mbox files.
The import export tools will import mbox files to Thunderbird to "Local folders" https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/
Perhaps try that approach to migrating your mail.
