ran search on bing for frankinsence, went to entry for amazon.com, clicked on some items, then clicked on item offered by vitacost, went to other items under amazon, exited back to homepage. found homepage changed to trovi.com with search engine changed to trovi.search. page was running ads. checked firefox options and my homepage (msn) had been removed. had to go to a site called criteo.com to add a cookie to refuse adds from criteo.com. had to reset homepage to msn, remove trovi from search engines and restart. running comodo, any suggestions to keep this from happening again?

Were you just page hopping? Did you install a program or add-on?

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. (Mac: Open the "Applications" folder) Go thru the list and use a web search to check any that you don't know what they are.
