Just received a Software Update popup for 30.0. Strongly recommended you apply this update ASAP. Is this real or a scam? Should I or should I NOT ?
I know FireFox is supposed to update automatically. So when I received a popup that says
"Software Update" at the top in the blue bar,
then in the white bar just beneath it, it says, "Update Available"
and then in the body of the message. it says
"A security and stability update for Firefox is available:" "Firefox 30.0" "It is strongly recommended that you apply this update for Firefox as soon as possible. "
"View more Information about this update" and when I do it shows a firefox eating bugs and reports too many bugs for the computer to show them all.
At the bottom are two boxes: One says 'Ask Later' The other box says 'Update Firefox'
I am suspicious of this popup. Should I do anything about this supposed "update" ?

Firefox 30 was just released today, so you do need to update. It looks like you went to this page, http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/30.0/releasenotes/, which just explains the changes in Firefox 30.

Tyler, the description does not seem to match the page you linked to.

I don't suppose you happen to have taken screen shots of what you saw.
"View more Information about this update" and when I do it shows a firefox eating bugs and reports too many bugs for the computer to show them all.
Is that at slightly exaggerated description of what you saw because I too would worry it was a scam or malware.
UPDATE OK I understand now what you were looking at.

John, the Dino head eating bugs is what you see if you go to the complete list of changes... Its the standard BMO search animation
OK Thanks, understood now.
Thanks, Tyler and John. I'm just a not-very-computer-savvy person, who is still using XP and can't afford the new hardware to update to Windows 8 yet (my PC and Laptop are more than five years old) . So I appreciate your input to allay my suspicions.
