I uninstalled firefox by accident because I was on another user account on my laptop and I didn't realize that it would uninstall it from my programs. how do I get all my bookmarks back after reinstalling firefox from scratch?

You have to find the setup file. or you can download it from here:

I don't exactly know what that means. A setup file?

ok I think I found it, now what?, (and thank you for your help)

I don't know what to do with the firefox file

Download the full installer from http://www.mozilla.org and run it. If you haven't removed your profile when uninstalling Firefox, your bookmarks should be right there after starting Firefox.

I already downloaded firefox again and no bookmarks came up, only my tabs since I did a system restore

I didn't have a profile until after I uninstalled and reinstalled, so is it still possible to get back my bookmarks?

If you did use Firefox prior to uninstalling you did have a profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

Firefox would pick up an existing profile after re-installing. If not, then you either deleted the profile upon uninstalling, or FF can't find your existing profile for whatever reason.

In the latter case you can try to search your disk for the old profile. If it exists, you can recover your bookmarks from it. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile

Thank you for your help, unfortunately, nothing seems to be working for me. I might start using chrome instead, even though I'm not a big fan of chrome

I might start using chrome instead

I don't see how that would bring back your bookmarks, but if it makes you feel better ...

You will have to do this the hard way. Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Depending on your system, you need to find this folder; C:\Users\=<User Name>=\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles The profile with the newest date should be the new profile. Look for the profile with the next newest date. That is likely the one you are looking for.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

Thank you to everyone. And FredMcd, I found the file folder, but I'm not sure what to do with it

Did you remove your personal data when you uninstalled Firefox?

If you did then all Firefox profile folders have been removed and your personal data is lost.

If you have ever reset Firefox then you may still have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop.
