How can I lock the bookmarks toolbar to stay below the navigation bar? It keeps moving above whenever I open a new tab.

Before the last update, my configuration was: Menu bar, Nav bar, Bookmarks toolbar and Tabs in that order from top to bottom. I have it set to not show tabs if there is only one. So it begins correct when I first open the browser, but if I start a 2nd tab the Bookmarks toolbar switches to above the Nav bar. Is there a way to lock my settings?

I am having a similar issue, though mine occurs when i am start an entirely new page instead of a new tab. Once I start a new page it shows the bookmark bar above everything, but going into customization populates the setup with the bookmark bar in its normal position. This will remain true until I start a new page up regardless of the former being open or not. Current version is Ff36.0, this did not occur until the last big update. Uploaded images show from start up to fixing with customization, note I do not click anything other than customize, exit customization.

From the second screenshot it looks like you are using a Waterfox version and not the regular release, so you might have to contact Waterfox for support about issues with that version.

I'm not seeing the Bookmarks Toolbar above the Navigation Toolbar in any of your screenshots. I see the Tab Bar on top as that is the default in Firefox 31 (browser.tabs.onTop is removed) and probably Warerfox 31 as well. Under the Tab Bar is the Navigation Toolbar with the location bar and search bar and below the NT is the Bookmarks Toolbar and below that another toolbar that I'm not familiar with. If Waterfox still has a setting to hide the tab bar if there is only one tab (Firefox doesn't have it) and that is causing it then you will have to accept this issue.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

I figured it out. I went into the settings for the Classic Theme Restorer (previously downloaded) in the Tools menu and chose "Tab not on top - set [tabsontop=false]". It seems to be working now.
