I am sure the other folders are not hiding behind the triangle. When I send an email from the troubled account it can not find the sent folder to save it and gives a message saying there is no inbox (trycreate) Obviously I am unable to pick up my mail and it is my main account. I have looked at my IMAPmail folder on my c/: drive and the folders seem to be there. There is nothing in them. I would appreciate any help you would be so kind as to offer.

Any idea which one was the problem child? I said one at a time, but I am betting you just went splash with all of them.

on the help menu open the troubleshooting information and select the show profile button.

Close Thunderbird. Delete or rename the following files one at a time. Each could fix the problem, so start Thunderbird in between. Note that starting Thunderbird recreates these files. session.json (this will remove saved changes to the appearance of the interface like having the reading pane turned on and what tabs are open.) FolderTree.json (this is a saved view of the folder tree. It makes startup faster) Panacea.dat ( a cache of the while folder tree and mail layout.)

Many thanks for your time and knowledge Matt. It is good of you to help me and all the others in trouble. Miraculously (it seems to me) I have a working account again:)

Back again:( I had my account folders appear again but they have gone missing again. I don't know exactly what caused the reappearance but this time when I deleted the 3 folders opening Thunderbird each time it has failed to bring them back. I am back to square one. Is there anything else which I may try?
