Facebook and Lifehacker/Gizmodo sites are having issues in Firefox, I want to fix it because Chrome is a battery hog on my Mac.

This is the third time I've reset the Fox, but certain webpage elements just don't work anymore. I installed flash player and everything worked great for an hour, then it was back to being broken. I've disabled all plugins and there was no change.

You can view reference screenshots here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yoe0qdyjcccycnq/AAAt-aWa7iinEdjQZKouyOfVa?dl=0

Installed plugins. Notifications don't load. Anything with facebook/# doesn't visually show any change until page is refreshed. (see liking a status or photo)

There should be a photo of a calandar and backdrop of $100 bills (Lifehacker) There should be thumbnails (two gifs and an image on Gizmodo)

Any advice?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
