How do I get thunderbird to leave email copies on my email server

I WANT to keep a copy of the emails on my server and I have set my account to leave copies until I delete them but it is still pulling them off. We use GoDaddy POP setting. This worked fine previously on Outlook. I want to keep copies as my email is for work and personal and I use different computers at different times and want different copies in different locations. Thanks for any help

Additionally, I went to Account settings and set the account to "Leave copy until I delete" (or whatever the verbiage is).
