I went to work today and when I opened up Firefox my homepage came up fine.

Now every time I type a website in the html bar I get this.

A AUP Registration

Cable One Acceptable Use Policy/Equipment Agreement

In order to complete the Cable One registration process, and access your new high speed Internet connection, you must agree to the Cable One Acceptable Use Policy and, if you have leased Equipment from Cable One, the Cable One Equipment Agreement. Please read through the information below and click the Acknowledge button to complete the registration process.

Cable One Acceptable Use Policy CableOne.Net High Speed Internet Access Service Acceptable Use Policy

With a blue box with the word Acknowledge at the button.

I have called Cableone and they say it isn't from their end.

Does anyone know what is doing this and how to get rid of it?

Avast Premier 2015, Malware Bytes, and Spybot do not find any problems with my computer.

I scanned my computer with Spybot and it seems to have fixed whatever the problem was. Thanks for the help!

Hey,

Thanks for reaching out to Mozilla community support! Can you try accessing the page through a different browser such as IE or Chrome, and see if the issue affects those browsers too? If it does, you'll need to contact your corporate IT helpdesk and get them to remedy the issue.

Hope this helps!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the <Shift/Options> key, and then starting Firefox. Is that thing still there?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

You can check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

KirbyTails,

You said earlier today that the problem is fixed after scanning your computer with "Spybot" so I'm marking that answer as the solution. Thanks for letting us know. If the problem returns, please post back.

(For others reading) I'm assuming the program was "SpyBot Search and Destroy" from safer-networking since it's a popular malware scanner. Other malware removal tools are listed above in the post by FredMcD.
