Each time I log out of Firefox when I come back my history is clear. I use my history quite a bit to return to sites and don't want to keep losing it. What do I have to do to stop this from happening?

Hello RayKay, check if you have set Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode Never remember history, go from Options > Privacy > Firefox will : UNselect Never remember history.

Thank you

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

And in the same Options location make sure that "Clear history when Firefox closes" is not checked.

Did you check for issues with the places.sqlite file?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
