My home page tab comes up but is immediately overridden by another tab. In tools I checked out page information and got this web address for it. chrome://spdlmovies-a/content/newtab/newtab.html Now instead of the page with my tiles of often used pages all I get is this page every time I hit the + for a new tab. I just want to get rid of it.

Do you know what that link it or what it does? Is it an ad?

Bookmark and use this; Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
