Thunderbird is deleting my messages from the server. My incoming messages and my deleted messages are being automatically deleted from Thunderbird and my Cox server. How do I keep all messages on the server? Right now I only have 36 messages on my Cox server inbox and on Thunderbird inbox. It looks like all my messages in all my folders are being deleted once a week from both my Cox server and Thunderbird. How can I keep all my messages on the server? I can't find anything in the settings. If this can't be corrected, I will have to give up Thunderbird.

I have version 31.7.0

Is this Cox IMAP? Like described here http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=db0c9270-b1d9-11e2-d072-000000000000

Are you also getting mail on a phone of other device other than web mail and Thunderbird?

Do you have mail filters on Cox Webmail? Do you have blocked sites on Cox Webmail? Have you tried turning of the COX spam filter?

I created an Archives Folder and I'm putting my incoming messages there as I receive them. I put the folder under my main folder or should I have put it under local folders? I also created a "My Deleted Messages" folder and when I want a message deleted, I copy it to that folder. When I want it permanently gone, I delete it.

I just wish there was an option to "Leave messages on the server". I'm getting tired of messages disappearing from the Cox server.

IMAP email is server based. The messages remain on the server and you view them remotely. There is no need for an option to leave on the server since that is how IMAP works. For POP accounts yes, IMAP no. Check the options on your account at your providers web mail page and see if they have any retention settings you need to address. If you want to keep local copies I suggest you create your new folders under Local Folders.

I don't know why my messages are disappearing. I called Cox twice and they said it isn't their issue. I'm going to call them again. Wish me luck.

OK, I give up. How do I delete or uninstall Thunderbird? I'm going back to Apple Mail.

I do not have a clue how to do anything with OSX. I have never even seen a copy running.

I suggest you ask how to uninstall a program in a MAC forum. Or read the instructions Apple provide. I would be most interested to hear if you do any better with apple mail. Both are IMAP so I think your going to have exactly the same issue.

I contacted Mac forum on how to uninstall Thunderbird. They said you would know the steps on how to uninstall Thunderbird.

Well I don't. Perhaps you should google it. I get multiple sets of instructions in the first dozen results.
