Had to delete Thunderbird account because of password change with server. Deleted old account and set up new one under same name different password. All archives were then not available. Would like to to import from old profile which I have backed up. My import function on Thunderbird only gives me options to import from Outlook, Outlook Express, and Eudora. I would appreciate help with any workaround. Thank you.

Oh dear. Why are people so eager to delete accounts?

All you needed to do is delete the stored password in Thunderbird, then it would ask for the new one. (Look under Tools|Options|Security|Passwords→Saved Passwords.) And in most cases, even this is unnecessary; Thunderbird will attempt to log in using the old password, find that it fails and then ask you to enter (or re-enter) the current password.

I'd reinstate the old profile and see if you can reconnect using your new password.

An alternative is to import mailboxes from the old profile; I'd suggest this add-on to help do this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

Zenos, Thank you for your reply. From your comment I understand that many have made this mistake. I actually did not hasten to delete, but that's neither here nor there. I will try the import tools and will let you know the outcome.

Zenos, I have installed the import tool, have used the function that takes me to where the previous files are stored, but do not know which files to restore. Do you have suggestions for recognizing them? Thanks
