Should Google Talk Plugin work with Firefox 38.0.5 and Windows XP SP3?
Google Talk Plugin works fine with my desktop Windows 7 Home Premium and Firefox 38.0.5. But I can not get Google Talk Plugin to work with my laptop running Firefox 38.0.5 and Windows XP SP3.
Someone posted that the Google Talk service ended in 2014 but it is still working for me. And Google still has web pages offering the Google Talk Plugin, but I can't get it to work with my laptop running Windows XP SP3 and Firefox 38.0.5.
The Google Talk Plugin seems to install OK. It shows up in my Firefox Add-ons and I've set it to 'always activate'. And the phone icon appears on my gmail page as it should. One click on the phone icon and the dial pad opens as it should. But now here's the problem. In the dial pad just below the phone number field there is text that reads, "Please download the voice plugin to make a call". I can enter a number to call but it will not dial as long as this text message is there: (Please download the voice plugin to make a call). No matter what I've tried, I can not get rid of this text message requiring me to download and install the voice plugin! But as I've explained, the plugin is already installed. Does anyone know what I should do?

You are talking about two different plugins, you need both for Hangouts to work, voice and talk. Look at the Google support pages to download the plugin,
