We downloaded Firefox without reading all of the fine print. Got impatient and clicked through everything without reading what was being installed. Once the download and install was complete, we had issues with many other things on our computer and it wasn't working properly. We deleted everything that we thought was installed with the download of Firefox. Now we are unable to access the internet via Chrome or IE. We know that our connection is working because other devices are able to connect. I have tried a few things to get this problem fixed, but not sure what else to do. I am afraid that he deleted something important when he was trying to fix the problem!

If you downloaded Firefox from Mozilla.org then only the Mozilla program would have been installed.

Let's see about fixing your system first.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Right click on the programs that are "broke" and select Repair.

Or, re-install them from their web site.

also,

Using another computer, Download Download Firefox Full Version For All languages And Systems {web link} onto a thumb drive. After, plug the thumb into your system.

You might want to sweep for malware, but you might need to download some tools onto a USB flash drive using a different computer.

(A) Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help surface undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.

(B) Use one or more of the scanning/cleaning tools listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.
