How can I set Firefox Mobile to open web pages in Reader View by default, so that I use less data and phone resources?
Maybe this is not an existing feature, but I'd imagine that there is a setting for it somewhere in about:config. I want pages on my mobile devices to open in Reader View by default, so that I'm pushing the Reader View button to turn that mode off rather than on.
I want to do this for two reasons: first, so that pages will not load all the ads (I'm especially concerned about video ads) that sap my phone's resources and increase my data usage; and second, so that pages that are not optimized for mobile devices (which is a pretty big majority of the pages I tend to visit) will open in a more readable format.
I am on a carrier with a consumption-based pricing plan for data, so I want to use as little data as I can when away from WI-FI. How can I make Reader View the default that Firefox Android opens pages to?

Reader mode needs to download the whole page before it will be able to parse it. It does not reduce bandwidth used. An extension like adblock or uBlock will block content before it is downloaded.

Hi:
Unfortunately you cannot remove the top sites homepage but you can pin a site, remove a site by unpinning it and edit a pinned site's url.
Please read this article for instructions.
Hope this helps!
