why does firefox's memory usage increases throughout the day
I use windows 8. as I use firefox through the day, it's memory usage keeps climbing. After 1-2 days it goes to 1-2 GB and starts not responding. I usually have 8-10 tabs open. I have the latest version. If I watch the task manage, the memory usage climbs while I watch it.

There are a wide range of things that cause memory to go up. I'd try ot make sure you are following these best practices:
- Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
- Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
- Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware
- Firefox uses too much memory or CPU resources - How to fix
Maybe consider updating to Windows 10? It has better memory management.
