I just moved back (OS X) from Postbox to Thunderbird. After configuration thunderbird started to download most of the mails, but not all of them and keeps showing "server x disconnected. server may be down .." every couple minutes.

Postbox at the same time doesn't have any server or connection issues, so I assume its neither a provider or internet issue. The configuration is correct, too (most of the messages are downloaded - so conf can't be too wrong).

I'm a little helpless where to search for the issue origin. On my IMAP mail account are about 14.000 emails, that's a problem?

Additional information: since TB never completed to download all server emails it always starts all over again every time I start TB again.

Thx.

Ok, another tiny bit of information: this seems to be related to "Avast Mac Security". Should have thought about that earlier. Turning off this proxy does speed up the process and the error message does not show up any more.

BUT: a) I wonder why TB isn't able to manage partly download of mail folders (and correctly continues the next time TB is started) b) I hope the error message will not show up the moment - after a complete folder sync - when I turn on Avast again
