More often than not, sites won't load; on pressing the stop cross followed by recycle, the site loads instantly. Why?

More often than not, a website won't load. If I press the red cross stop button followed by the blue recycle curved arrow, the site completes loading immediately. These occurrence is not site specific and any site might load first time on one occasion but hang on another. I've tried Refreshing Firefox but that made no difference. This annoyance happened in Windows 7 and continues since upgrading to Windows 10. Any ideas?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Shockwave Flash 19.0 r0 Shockwave Flash 11.7 r700
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Note: Edge on Win10 does not use ActiveX version but its own Flash.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Flash Player Version 19.0.0.226
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
Note: Windows users should download the ‘’’active_x’’’ for “Internet Explorer,” and the ‘’’plugin’’’ for “Plugin-based browsers” (like Firefox).

Adobe still offers Flash 18.0.0.255 as its extended support release further down

I've tried several sites that wouldn't load and copied the URL, re-started Firefox in safe mode, pasted the URL and they loaded immediately. But during this period, other sites loaded OK in standard Firefox. This intermittent hang-up problem does not seem to be site specific. Re the other item; I had tried to uninstall the outdated Flash from within Firefox but never succeeded. Have done so now as per your advice. Thanks

Type about:plugins<enter> in the address bar. Now search for the plugin.

Example; Adobe Acrobat File: nppdf32.dll,nppdf32.dll Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll,C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AIR\nppdf32.dll Version: 11.0.9.29 State: Enabled Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.9

This will show you the path to that program. Copy the Path Only. Also note the name of the file, and remember it. Now Close Firefox. Open your file browser and paste the path in the address bar. Find the file, and delete it. Now you can restart Firefox. Warning ! Remember to delete the right program.

To be safe, remove all of them. Then install the current.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons. Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is detective.
