I sometime add recurring events into the calendar as place holders to prevent others from inviting me to appointments on these times.

Can I configure the event viewer to ignore these place holders events and not display them as 'real' events?

I don't think so. And even if you could, wouldn't that defeat the idea of putting in blockers in the first place?

No. Because whoever tries to invite me will still see the events and their times in the calendar. I just want the event viewer which shows "today events" or "events in next 7 days" to filter them out.
