when I click on a link, or when I search for a website, they are automatically bookmarked in "most visited" even though I did not bookmark them.

That page is not bookmarks, but history. Whatever is visited the most is placed first.

that isn't what's happening. when i go to a website, one that i haven't ever been to before, it goes into the bookmark menu, into most frequented. then it's almost impossible to get them out of there.

Hi nellalee, does that folder on the bookmarks menu have a special blue icon with a magnifying glass on the folder? Those "smart" folders run queries and display the query results, so they will continue changing over time. If you don't want to see that folder, you should be able to delete it just like any other folder on your bookmarks menu. If you think it might be useful someday, you can drag it into a folder where it's out of sight/out of mind.
