Hello,

I have a long standing problem. I've got a Gmail account. It measures about 5 GB. Now I do Thunderbird fresh install and set it up to sync with my Gmail acc. over IMAP. It goes fine. It downloads Inbox folder content, Sent, Spam etc. which is OK. But then it downloads All Mail folder, Important, and all Starred, etc. etc. And eventually my Thunderbird profile folder grows up to 40 GB - 8 times more than the same data takes on Gmail servers.

How can I set things up so that Thinderbird does not create multiple copies of same messages/files, which is apparently takes place? I only need Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Spam and Trash folders to be synced locally. I tried to Unsubscribe from all other folders in Account settings but it didn't help. Thunderbird keeps sucking in all the data.

I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

This article: Offline folders

Right-click a folder you don't want synchronized, select Properties.

Folder Properties: Synchronization tab. Remove checkbox from "Select this folder for offline use".
